Anemia, low iron or thyroid problems: Hair loss can start with what's going on inside your body. Get it checked and treated. A scalp routine can't fix a deficiency.

Other medical hair loss: Sudden, patchy or scarring hair loss, or hair loss linked to illness or medication, should be checked by a dermatologist first.

Don't stamp without your doctor's OK if you have an active scalp infection, open wounds, an inflamed psoriasis or eczema flare, a history of keloid scarring or a bleeding disorder. The same goes if you take blood thinners (including daily low-dose aspirin), are immune-suppressed or have uncontrolled diabetes. NovaMane is not for anyone under 18.

Not the way finasteride does. Finasteride is a systemic prescription drug: it lowers DHT throughout your body by blocking the enzyme that makes it. Topical finasteride reaches your blood at lower levels than the pill, but it can still lower DHT in your blood, so even the topical version has a systemic effect. That's why so many men worry about side effects.

With minoxidil or topical finasteride: Don't apply them right after stamping. The micro-channels can make your scalp absorb more, which can mean more irritation and side effects. Stamp on a separate day or wait at least 24 hours, unless your prescriber tells you otherwise.

Why the rest day matters: Each session opens tiny micro-channels in your scalp, and the rest day is when your scalp recovers. Never stamp two days in a row. If your scalp is still red or tender, take an extra day.

What's in your kit: An applicator pre-fitted with a sterile needle head, a 2.5 mL serum vial, and extra replacement heads if you added them. Your first session can begin right away.

Before your first session: Try a small area first to see how your scalp reacts.

Prep: Wash your scalp and pat it dry. A clean, dry scalp means better serum absorption and less irritation.

Fill: Unscrew the needle head and pour about 0.5 mL of serum (around 1/5 of the vial) into the applicator bottle, or use one of your pipettes for a cleaner, more exact dose. Screw the head back on tightly. Fill only what you need for that session and keep the rest of the vial sealed so it stays fresh.

Prime the valve: The needle head has a small center valve (the "bubble") that needs to open before serum flows. Just start stamping; the first 2 to 3 stamps may be dry, and that's normal. Or, with the cap on, flip the applicator upside down and tap it firmly 2 to 3 times on a flat surface, then remove the cap. If flow slows mid-session, flip and tap twice, then keep going.

Section: Use a tail comb to part your hair and clip sections away. Focus on your priority zones: hairline, crown, temples and part line.

Stamp: Press with firm but comfortable pressure, then lift straight up. Move one head-width over and repeat in a grid. Start with one light round with no overlap. Over time, build to 2 to 3 rounds or a 25 to 50% overlap for denser coverage. A light pink flush is normal and fades quickly.

Finish: Gently massage the remaining serum into your scalp. Avoid washing or heavy styling products for 8 to 12 hours. You can style as usual, but skip heat tools for 2 hours, and wait at least 48 hours before coloring your hair.

Needle heads: For best results, use a fresh sterile needle head each session. Reusing a head? Sanitize it right after your session (see question 16).

Dose: About 0.5 mL per session is your reference point. Covering larger areas? You can use a little more.

Time: About 3 to 5 minutes for targeted areas, up to 10 for your full scalp.

Most men describe it as light pressure or tingling, more like a firm scalp massage than a needle. The needles are 0.5 mm: short enough for home use, long enough to matter.

Mild redness or warmth for an hour or two is normal. You shouldn't see more than a pinpoint of blood; if you do, you're pressing too hard. If you notice burning, swelling, itching or a rash that doesn't settle, stop and contact us.

Because we pair copper peptides with natural botanical extracts, small, normal variations in raw-material color and pH can shift the shade from very pale aqua to light blue from batch to batch. Replacement heads

Your applicator comes pre-fitted with a sterile needle head. The head holds the 0.5 mm needles that create the micro-channels. Needles gradually dull with use, so you'll need fresh heads over time, and you may notice a different feel as a head wears.

For optimal performance, many users prefer a fresh needle head each session. Sharper needles can feel smoother and deliver more consistent micro-channels.

You can also reuse a head if you sanitize it properly. Right after each session, soak the needle head in 70% isopropyl alcohol for 10 minutes. Lift it out by the collar, tap off the excess and air-dry it needles-up on a clean tissue. Never rinse it with water. The soak is for the needle head only, not the applicator bottle or the serum vial.

A sanitized head can still work well. As a rule of thumb, swap to a fresh head after around 5 uses, even though a carefully sanitized head can be used more (we cap it at about 15 uses max). If you ever drop a head, see bent needles or feel roughness, replace it immediately.

Applicator bottles

The bottle is the glass reservoir your serum sits in and the part your needle head screws onto, so it's made to be refilled and reused. After each use, you can wipe the bottle's neck and collar with alcohol to keep it clean. But every refill leaves a trace behind, and dried serum collects in the neck and threads where wiping can't reach. Over time, a worn seal can also leak serum down your neck instead of into your scalp.

If you notice a leak, re-seat the head, check the O-ring and tighten it snugly first. Still dripping? A fresh applicator bottle resets all of it: a clean chamber, a tight seal and no drips. Swap it when you see dried build-up in the neck, it still leaks after re-seating, or you spot a chip or crack.
